Overview
The English-language Bachelor's degree programme in International Hospitality & Business Management is a full-time degree programme that is designed to be completed while working. In order to be able to study alongside a job or under other individual circumstances, the Bachelor's degree programme is delivered in a blended learning format.
The course provides a well-founded foundation in international business studies with a focus on hospitality management. The focus is on the customer. Their expectations should be exceeded, especially in an increasingly digital environment. The term hospitality also stands for social competence and includes a high degree of emotional intelligence. Digital solutions should support customer-related services and increase their quality and quantity. In addition, intercultural skills are taught, which are essential in an international environment.
Note: Graduates from Austrian tourism colleges or 5 year upper secondary programmes in the hospitality sector may be eligible for a credit transfer, which reduces the study period.
Course Contents:
Students develop skills that enable them to work in all areas of business administration, particularly in the hospitality sector. The focus of the course is on specialist knowledge in the areas of hospitality management and business administration. Courses in general business administration and economics form part of the broad-based business education. These classic basic topics are supplemented by courses in the areas of communication, sustainability, internationalization and digitalization, which are designed to prepare students in particular for the demands of business in a dynamic and global environment. During their studies, students acquire a broad legal background in general legal principles including contract law for companies, European law, tax and employment law, which prepares them for future professional fields. Analytical and academic skills are fostered through courses on statistics and data analysis as well as courses on research methods and academic writing. The program is rounded off by the teaching of key social communication skills such as negotiation, critical thinking, problem-solving methods and leadership skills as well as in-depth language skills in business and academic English.
Organisational Format
The blended learning format enables students to work independently of time and place by regularly and didactically alternating between face-to-face and online phases.
The blended learning concept thus offers a varied and learning-promoting programme with different social forms and learning activities, which also gives students a certain degree of personal responsibility. This includes self-directed learning (asynchronous teaching), in which students determine the time, intervals, pace and location of their learning activities themselves, as well as face-to-face e-learning (synchronous teaching), which takes place at different locations on a fixed date through virtual direct communication.
Blended Learning
Career possibilities:
Graduates' future professional fields and career opportunities include top management, middle and senior (project) management, as well as management roles in the areas of sales, marketing and customer service in companies, particularly in the hospitality and service-oriented healthcare sector and in the entire service sector.
